Walking - Stragglers 1

Status:Active, open to new members
When: Fortnightly on Tuesday mornings 10:00 am-12:00 pm
1st & 3rd Tuesday
Venue: Out 'n' About

As the name suggests, we all have some form of walking difficulties. Therefore, we try to keep our walks to a maximum of a mile on a flat surface, preferably where sitting places are available if necessary.
It is an informal group, with no styles or hills and may well involve stopping off somewhere for tea/coffee!

In June 2021 we enjoyed a lovely summery stroll around Hilsea Lido :

Singing For Pleasure

Status:Active, open to new members
When: Fortnightly on Wednesday afternoons 2:00 pm-3:30 pm
1st & 3rd Wednesday
Venue: Sacred Heart Church, Waterlooville

We first got together in September 2013 and we're still singing our hearts out! Everyone is welcome to join this group for fun afternoons of singing, learning songs from all around the world. It's not a question of whether you can or can't sing - it's whether you want to sing! Come along and have a go! Singing is serious fun and there will never be a waiting list - the more the merrier!

There are no auditions, no need to read music and absolutely no experience required!

Singing provides great health benefits - it lowers blood pressure, improves breathing, helps reduce stress and boosts the immune system - it is a "no brainer" - you just come along and breathe!

Group members share the costs of our professional teacher and hall hire; however, your first visit is a taster and is free of charge or any commitment.

Below are some images taken from a concert we gave to Waterlooville u3a members at Sacred Heart Church in 2014. You can listen to our performance here.

Pilates 4

Status:Active, open to new members
When: Weekly on Thursday mornings 11:15 am-12:15 pm
Venue: Cowplain Activity Centre

Pilates is a form of exercise that focuses on balance, posture and strength to improve your core muscles whilst making you more flexible. It is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels.

The instructor for our Pilates group is fully qualified to lead the groups but is not a member of Waterlooville u3a. She carries her own public liability insurance as an instructor. However group members also have public liability insurance cover via their membership of Waterlooville u3a and its affiliation with the national u3a and Third Age Trust. Each weekly session is 60 minutes long and all group members share the costs of hiring the hall and the instructor.

Pilates 4 formed in October, 2016 and is one of several groups that meet on different days and times. These groups mostly operate at full capacity but we always hold a waiting list of members interested in joining the group so when a space arises it is offered to the member who is at the top of the list.
