Wood Turning

This group started in March, 2026

Woodturning begins with a simple blank of wood and reveals the bowl, box, or form hidden within it. It’s a craft that offers both skill and deep satisfaction.

Beginners are shown the fundamentals, and for those already familiar with the lathe, we work on joint projects together. Space in the workshop is limited, but everyone can be accommodated with staggered sessions.

Film Club

This group starts in March, 2026

We meet monthly to watch a film on DVD/Blu-ray in the comfort of a complimentary 15-seat cinema room in a local Care Home.

Weaving & Felting

When:	Fortnightly on Tuesday afternoons 2:00 pm-4:00 pm 1st & 3rd Tuesday afternoon

This group started in November, 2025.

This group is for anyone who enjoys Weaving and Felting (including Needle Felting Art), or would like to try their hand at it. Beginners welcome.

Painting 2

Status:	Active, open to new members
When:	Weekly on Monday mornings 9:30 am-12:00 pm
Venue:	Lovedean Village Hall

This group started in October, 2012.
We are a small group of up to 14 who enjoy painting and great fellowship. We have had several visiting artists and have learned different forms of media. We also enjoy learning from each other. Look out for our stand at the annual Open Day when we exhibit some of our work.

Photography 4

Status:	Active, open to new members
When:	Monthly on Monday afternoons 2:00 pm-4:00 pm 2nd Monday afternoon
Venue:	Various places

Monthly meetings take place in members' homes when members take turns to choose a topic for the following month and suggest a photoshoot venue (the venue is required to have a nearby coffee shop or other suitable meeting place).
Past photoshoot locations have included Old Portsmouth, Wickham, Hambledon, the Model Village and Portchester Castle.

This group started in February, 2013.

As with the other photography groups, we visit various locations for photoshoots and also have indoor meetings to share our photographs and discuss all matters photographic.

This group was developed in May, 2009.

We are a friendly group who meet to assist one another in the complexities of using a digital / other camera in settings other than "auto".
Once a month we go to a venue to take photos and we subsequently look and constructively criticise them to try and improve the "taking eye". We also try to resolve problems that arise for members from the available editing software.

This group has remained largely unchanged since its inception, still meeting regularly at various destinations to take or create pictures with a specific theme such as "through a window/door"

Photography 1

This group started in November, 2025.

The group is open to members with varying levels of experience. We meet twice a month with a location visit followed by a "show and tell".
The members are all very friendly and happy to share their experience, advice, technical tips as well as a sociable chat and a cuppa.

As a bit of friendly competition we have a Photograph of the Month where the best picture based on a theme is judged by the group members.

Fun with Watercolours

This group started in June, 2025.

This is a joyful little group! It's all about just relaxing together and enjoying Thursday afternoons playing with colours, paintbrushes, paper and water. No need to be an "artist" or brilliant at drawing. Simplicity, fun and companionship is the name of the game.
