Bus Trippers Photos July-Dec 2019

Weald & Downland Museum Christmas Market - Sat 23rd Nov 2019

Dismal weather it may have been but it didn't deter 20 Bus trippers from rising early, donning their macs and boots and catching 3 buses to Singleton. Luckily, in Chichester, Sandi had her wits about her and discovered we were on the wrong side of the road for the number 60, just in time for us to catch it. Near the entrance, we were able to skip the queues for the car park and, by showing our bus passes, gain half-price entry for each full paid ticket. Bargain! There were loads of lovely things on display at over 200 stalls spread around the extremely muddy site and thousands of people and dogs squelching around it. Happily for our purses, this meant that it was just too much hassle to actually buy much.
Whilst some of us had not heard of TV programme, The Repair Shop, those who had were very excited at seeing its set and one of its stars.
The big mystery of the day was how one person managed to come away with not a speck of mud on her green suede boots, while the rest of us were caked in it.

Chichester College lunch - Fri 18th Oct 2019

Weather is always a major factor in Bus tripping. One particularly memorable trip across the harbour to Gosport, could easily have been compared to a crossing through the Southern Ocean. However, on this occasion, during a period of torrential downpours, the sun shone every time we were outdoors, and the rain was confined to our times inside. Totes amazeballs. The lunch at Chichester College was, as always, lovely.

Pagham scenic route - Tues 17th Sept 2019

It was cancelled twice due to atrocious weather, and just 9 people turned up for our Pagham trip but it turned out to be a rather nice change to travel in a small group and eat all together. A local resident advised us to get off the bus at what is known as "the pubs bus stop". As we sat in the beautiful and sunny garden of the Inglenook Hotel, having elevenses, we agreed that this had been excellent advice. Afterwards, a pretty fruitless search for the highlights of Pagham, made most of us think that perhaps we should have stayed in the pub.

Sandown to Shanklin, Isle of Wight - Sat 7th Sept 2019

We can't let summer end without one of June's trips to the IOW. Rising at some ungodly hour to catch an early bus down to Southsea, we were a little miffed that a party of about 60 schoolchildren had bagged the lion's share of the seats on the 9.00am hovercraft. Resilient as ever, we filled the half hour wait with coffee, chatting and visits to the loo. Our day was spent on scenic bus rides, a walk from Sandown to Shanklin, lovely lunches and delicious ice creams, all in glorious sunshine. Well done and thank you June.

Portchester Guided Walk - Tues 3rd Sept 2019

Margaret very kindly lead the group over to Portchester for another enjoyable and interesting walk with our favourite guide, Andrew. Margaret writes: "The group of 15 included two new members. The weather was chilly and windy but a plate of chips in The Cormorant put that right."

Midhurst Guided Walk - Fri 5th July 2019

25 Bus trippers spent a gloriously sunny day being guided around just some of the highlights of Midhurst, ranging from the stocks for the filthy poor to the polo fields of the filthy rich. As an added bonus, the Red Arrows gave a fleeting, flashing flypast which was unfortunately all over before anyone managed to take a photo.
