| Venue: | Various places |
This group was developed in May, 2009.
We are a friendly group who meet to assist one another in the complexities of using a digital / other camera in settings other than "auto".
Once a month we go to a venue to take photos and we subsequently look and constructively criticise them to try and improve the "taking eye". We also try to resolve problems that arise for members from the available editing software.
This group has remained largely unchanged since its inception, still meeting regularly at various destinations to take or create pictures with a specific theme such as "through a window/door"
Photos taken at Port Solent - subject "Reflections and skyline"

| Venue: | Pear Tree Court, Horndean |
This group started in November, 2025.
The group is open to members with varying levels of experience. We meet twice a month with a location visit followed by a "show and tell".
The members are all very friendly and happy to share their experience, advice, technical tips as well as a sociable chat and a cuppa.
As a bit of friendly competition we have a Photograph of the Month where the best picture based on a theme is judged by the group members.
Our December theme (no surprise) was Christmas :

| When: | On Friday mornings 11:00 am-2:00 pm Alternate Friday mornings |

We meet on alternate Fridays, weather permitting. Walks are easy and generally about one and a half to two miles long, ending with an optional lunch in a nearby pub. The walks are varied, with members offering to plan and lead, and walks are planned in advance.
Our walks are usually in the Portsmouth area, but can be Fareham, Wicor, Havant, Emsworth, Bosham or Stansted.
The walks provide gentle exercise in fresh (sometimes bracing) air with good companionship, conversation, fun and food!
Please note - from a safeguarding perspective, we do not allow dogs on our organised walks.

| When: | Monthly on Friday mornings 10:00 am-12:00 pm 1st Friday morning |
| Venue: | Out 'n' About |
This group started in August, 2016.
The very first Waterlooville u3a Strollers were formed in August 2016 for those who like a more leisurely walk and easier terrain than those undertaken by the Strider group. Walks are between 3 and 4 miles and wherever possible on reasonably flat terrain with a minimum of obstacles such as stiles
The group meet on the 1st Friday of the month and details of the walk and where to meet are circulated in advance, the walk sometimes finishes where there are facilities for refreshments
Walks take place either around the Stansted estate, Portchester Castle area or around the foreshore at Emsworth.
Any member of Waterlooville u3a is welcome to join, non-members can join a walk as a “taster” session, thereafter they would need to join to be covered by U3A insurance.

This group started in October, 2016.
(NOTE : During the winter months of November to March we start at 1:30 pm and in the summer months of April to October we start at 2:00 pm)
The Walking Striders 2 group walk in the area of eastern Hampshire and West Sussex within a radius bordered by Chichester to the east, Petersfield to the north, the Solent coast to the south and Wickham/Droxford/East Meon to the west. Occasional walks beyond that region are with the agreement of the group.
The walks incorporate woodland, farmland and coastal footpaths. Hiking boots are recommended as suitable footwear but wellington boots are sometimes preferable during the winter season and stout trainers might be acceptable in the driest summer months.

Hello and welcome to the Dining Out group or “ladies wot lunch !”, although we would love to see some more gentlemen join us and please be assured “boys” you will receive a warm welcome.
Sometimes it is a daunting task to dine alone in a restaurant so why not join us and be part of a convivial group and enjoy a good meal and perhaps with a beverage of your choice.
We meet once a month at various restaurants around the city although mainly in Southsea and Gunwharf Quays.
Previous visits have included :
* Sopranos
* Cafe Rouge
* Noble House
* Rocksby's
* Loch Fyne
* Bella Calabria
There are so many eateries in and around this area sometimes we are spoilt for choice so any new suggestions are welcome. We have also dined at Southdowns College and Chimes, both of which are catering colleges for the next generation of chefs … so maybe you can say "I was there when …"!
April 2018 Blog - by Viv
We have visited new venues and re-visited old favourites.
We have discovered the Ship and Castle and the Ship Anson down at the Hard. They both offer extremely good value for money with not only a carvery but an extensive menu for those who do not wish to have a big meal - however they will give you a "doggy" bag if you ask. This correspondent usually takes her own anyway!
Ideas for the summer months include fish and chips at The Deep Blue Restaurant at the end of the South Parade Pier and also Tiger Tiger - depending on the weather!
During warmer weather, we have visited Carluccios down at Gunwharf Quays for a lovely taste of The Mediterranean with an absolutely delicious Italian meal. Just picture it, music, wine and oodles of pasta and you could have been on the Amalfi Coast ... just a little imagination is all you need and of course ... bus pass travel.

This group started in September, 2021.
The aim of this group is to provide companionship for members who are on their own and would like to take part in a variety of activities, but would rather not do so alone. It can be a day or half-day. Members take turns to suggest an outing - perhaps visit a garden, a place of interest, have a lunch, visit the theatre, go to a concert, or meet at a garden centre for coffee and cake . . .
