Tour of the Houses of Parliament - Monday 17th July 2017

Outings group 1 left Waterlooville by mini coach at 07:00 to travel to London! We arrived in plenty of time to meet with George Hollingbery MP in Westminster Hall. He gave us an interesting guide as to how business is carried out in the house, talked about his ‘job’ as PPS to Teresa May and gave us his views on the state of Waterlooville Town Centre. He then left us to go to a meeting at No 10. At the end of Westminster Hall was a contemporary light art sculpture at the entrance to St Stephen Hall called New Dawn which was recently installed to commemorate Women’s Suffrage. We then had an hour and a half guided tour of the Houses of Parliament which was both interesting and informative. We saw several MPs and some Lords giving people their own private tours as we went round as well. We were then booked to go to the Jewel Tower so we had to leave Parliament in a hurry and cross over to the Jewel Tower. It is only a small building but with great views of Parliament and the green where TV interviews are carried out of parliamentarians, with some displays of plates amongst other things. Finally we went to the Cellarium restaurant in the grounds of Westminster Abbey for a very tasty pre-booked lunch. We left Westminster at 15:00 and were back in Waterlooville by 17:00 to end an excellent day.

Outings Group 1 go sailing at BAR - 19th April 2017

We went to Ben Ainslie Racing in Camber Dock to have a look around their ‘Tech Floor’.
It included story boards on the history of the Americas cup, clothing worn by the crews throughout the ages, a model of the AC50 class boat, a cut out hull section and many other items. The building is quite spectacular and the views of the harbour, harbour approach and the Solent are great. There was also a VR headset with views from on the boat. Well worth a visit.

Outings Group 1 invade Brighton - 12th April 2017

We went on Wednesday 12th April to have a ride on the i360. It started out as an overcast and windy day but it was high cloud and so the views were very good. You could also buy a bottle of Nyetimber on the ride for only £55, but we all resisted the urge to buy more than one! After our ride we went for lunch at a local hostelry and then went exploring until it was time to catch the minibus back to Waterlooville. Some went to the Lanes. Some went to the Royal Pavilion and some went shopping. The afternoon saw a real weather change and it was sunny and warm.

Saturday 14th January 2017 Outing

Outings Group 1 went to Los Amigos in Southern Spain on the Costa Lot for a party at an exclusive villa. As you can see from the photos there were some very dubious characters attending the party. When we arrived it turned out that the host had been murdered and so the evening was spent working out who the murderer was. To pass the time we also had some food and drink to sustain us whilst we worked out who dunnit!

We had a really good time at our Murder Mystery evening with plenty of laughs.
