Bus Trippers Photos Jan-Jun 2016

Chichester Flower Festival - Fri 3rd June 2016

Blooming marvellous! 31 Bus trippers and not a single (audible) complaint about having to hang around for a group photo.

Chesapeake Mill - Wed 1st June 2016

Let no one be under the illusion that bus tripping is for wimps. Only the hardiest of the hardy were willing to submit to 4 hours of travel on 6 buses in exchange for 3 hours of coffee/mooching/lunch. A definite highlight was the 45 minute trip on the No 3 from Cosham to Fareham. Paulsgrove is probably not top of anyone's 'must see' list but perhaps it could be slotted in at number 10 or 11? Give it a go.

Afternoon Tea at Blendworth Fabrics - Fri 6th May 2016

Following the success of our first outing to Blendworth in February, Zig has organised a series of return visits. Of course you can have too much tea and cake but we haven't reached that stage yet.

New Theatre Royal - Fri 11th March 2016

Kim came up with a cracking idea for our latest trip - a guided tour behind the scenes at the New Theatre Royal in Portsmouth. In partnership with Portsmouth Uni, they're making a fantastic job of the restoration of the old theatre, (loads of legroom), and they've also added brand new, state-of-the-art rehearsal and performance areas, plus dressing rooms and a laundry.
Our guides clearly loved their subject and our heads were given a good workout switching from left to right and back again as the information poured forth. Replete with facts, figures, dates and names, we stood on the stage, soaking up the atmosphere of a Victorian theatre. The dark wings, heavy weights, a length of rope, flashing lights, trapdoors, metal cages rising and falling, shadowy figures moving around - just like a scene from an Agatha Christie play, and coincidentally, there were fewer of us at the end than there were at the beginning ...

Blendworth Fabrics - Monday 15th Feb 2016

Our first outing of 2016, organised by Zig, proved very popular. Zig reported:

On Monday 15th February the Bus Trippers decided to "Take Afternoon Tea" at Blendworth Fabrics at Crookley Park in Horndean. Blendworth Fabrics is an up market producer of printed fabrics which, in addition to other homely products, it sells at its shop in Horndean.

On a cool but sunny day, the group met at Horndean Precinct, a convenient bus stop, and then walked the short distance to Crookley Park.

At 2.00pm a total of 22 members of the group sat down at our reserved tables and then made a choice from the selection of cakes, pastries and sandwiches that the delightful cafe had on offer. It was a very enjoyable and leisurely afternoon tea. The staff were friendly and helpful and we started to leave at at around 3.30pm, well refreshed, to catch our buses home.
